BARBERIA, THE PROJECT OF A NEW LIFE

After a difficult start in Belgium, Jhojan decided to return voluntarily to his country of origin in Colombia for a new beginning.

Precariousness and instability

In 2022, Jhojan arrived in Belgium – where his father had already been living for 3 years – in the hope of finding a new job. Without legal documents, he was forced to accept a precarious and unstable job with no fixed income, making the situation much more complicated than expected.

BACK IN COLOMBIA

After hearing about the support programme for reintegration, in partnership with Caritas International, Jhojan decided to return voluntarily to his country of origin. Eligible for assistance and accompaniment locally, he figured it would be the best option.

BARBERIA, MUCH MORE THAN A HAIR SALON

Thanks to the support programme for reintegration, Jhojan had the opportunity to take the necessary steps to launch his new project, Barberia: a hairdresser’s training, the purchase of new equipment and materials... Everything was invested for the opening of his new hair salon. Even if the beginnings were difficult, Jhojan has today been able to reach his goals and start a new, much more stable and enjoyable life.
